Your idea studio

For people with a million ideas who have never written code.

Ideate turns Claude, Codex and other AI coders into an idea studio you can see. Pour out every idea, grow them without limit, and watch every version of every idea change, part by part, with who changed it and why. Then build the one you want, without drifting.

The demo runs on sample ideas in your browser. No sign-up.

The Ideate idea map: a brain dump on the left branches into kept, parked and crossed-out ideas, with a blue path leading to the current best idea, PawPals, marked as having 6 parts changed.

The map shows every idea and where it came from. The road to your current best is highlighted.

How it works

You talk in plain words. Ideate keeps the map, the versions and the reasons, so nothing gets lost and nothing gets quietly reworded.

  1. Dump

Pour out every idea in your head, messy, typed or spoken. Ideate splits it into separate ideas on your map. Nothing is judged yet.

    dump: …
  2. Grow

Grow any idea as far as you want. New branches come from thinking moves: go bigger, flip the audience, the opposite, remove the money.

    grow [idea]
  3. Mix

Blend ideas together and get new ones nobody planned, with both parents shown.

    mix A + B
  4. Stress-test

Who needs it, what's hard, what already exists. Honest scores.

    stress-test [idea]
  5. Make it real

A quick clickable sketch, pinned to that idea.

    make it real: [idea]
  6. Keep, park or throw out

Nothing is ever deleted. Thrown-out ideas stay, crossed out, with your reason. You can bring them back.

    throw out [idea] because …
  7. North Star

Watch the one sentence of what you actually want sharpen, with every earlier version kept.

    what changed
  8. Build it

One idea, built for real, piece by piece, with a drift check after every piece.

    build it

No walls of text. Every reply ends with a short card: what changed on your map, the strongest idea right now, the AI's honest take, and your moves. On the map, every button copies the right words for you to paste into your AI chat.

Six views, one idea map

The live map updates the moment your AI changes something. Keys 1 to 6 switch views.

1

Today

What changed since your last visit, who changed it, what Claude and Codex looked up, what's coming up, and one Do this next button.

The Today view: a summary of what changed since the last visit, who made each change, and a Do this next button.
2

Map

Every idea and where it came from. The road to your current best is highlighted, and changed ideas say how many parts changed since your visit.

The Map view: ideas branching from a brain dump, thrown-out ones crossed out, and a highlighted path to the current best idea.
3

Versions

Every version of an idea, side by side, part by part. Removed words are struck through, added words are highlighted, and you see the score moves and the reason for each version.

The Versions view: two versions of an idea side by side with removed words struck through and added words highlighted.
4

Parts

What one idea is made of: who it's for, how it works, money, trust, risks. See the history of each part, ideas inside a part, and the questions the plan still has to answer.

The Parts view: one idea broken into parts such as who it's for, how it works, money and risks.
5

Brain

Everything your AI knows about you, your business and your ideas, as neurons inside a real human brain. Search it, click a cell, see what it connects to. When Claude or Codex look something up before answering, those cells light up. A plain list is there for anyone who would rather not use 3D.

The Brain view in its Glass look: a see-through 3D human brain with glowing cells for ideas, goals, decisions and people.
6

Brief

The one-page plan, every line traced back to the ideas it came from.

Claude and Codex, side by side

Ask both for a second opinion on the same idea. Ideate lines up the points they agree on, shows what only one of them said, and lets you merge both into a new version.

Both write to the same map

Claude and Codex share memory across sessions, so one can pick up where the other left off.

Every change is kept

Each change goes through Ideate, which keeps the old version and shows the difference, with who made it.

The second opinion screen: Claude's and Codex's views of the same idea lined up, with points they agree on and points only one of them made.
Part history: the money part of an idea across three versions, showing whether Claude or you made each change and why.
Each part keeps its own history.

One memory across every AI you use

Ideate is also an MCP server, so your AI tools read and write the same memory. Work carries on from tool to tool with no handoffs.

  • Claude CodeInstall the Ideate plugin. It includes the server and the hooks.
    Works today
  • CodexOne command connects it, then type /hooks once to trust them.

  • claude.ai, ChatGPT and your phoneHosted memory, so the apps that can't run anything on your computer share it too.

  • Threads, not chatsEach piece of work has a goal, a "done when" and a next step, and stays open until it's done.
  • AutomaticIn Claude Code and Codex, every new session starts with what's open and what changed since you last looked. No AI has to remember.
  • Six simple toolsResume, save, idea, decide, done and search.

Set it up

Ideate runs inside the AI tool you already use, on your own plan.

Recommended

Claude Code

  1. Type this into Claude Code:/plugin marketplace add autonomized/ideate
  2. Then this:/plugin install ideate@ideate
  3. Open any empty folder and type start. Ideate sets itself up and asks you to pour out every idea at once.

Safety guards run automatically: the card is always there, risky commands need your OK, secret keys are blocked from your code, and your idea map is reloaded every chat. Needs Python 3, which most computers already have.

Also works

Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and others

  1. Open your AI tool in the folder for your project and paste:Follow https://github.com/autonomized/ideate/blob/main/INSTALL.md to set up Ideate here, then start.

Everything works, including versions and the live map. The automatic guards are Claude Code only for now, so other tools follow them as rules but nothing forces them to.

Pour out every idea. Build the one you want.
